April - One Monthly Goal

I've come to the conclusion that the overarching goal for all of us this month is to remain virus-free and pray for an end to this world-wide plague.  To that end, I've spent the last few days of March making some face masks for our small local hospital.  At this point there are 21 for the hospital, 2 for my daughter and boyfriend who are still working at their work site, two for my husband, and I'll be making another two for myself later today.  Some of the ones going to the hospital:

I'd planned to have this top completed by the end of March.  That didn't happen with the face mask project, so wrangling some borders onto this will be my April OMG.  Calling this one Sherbet Jumble, it will be a donation quilt, possibly for the camp auction, if we're able to hold one this year.

I think I'm going with this border option:

These fabrics were part of a lovely gift for our quilt ministry from Lynn at Sew'n Wild Oaks after I was the lucky winner of her recent "name this quilt" giveaway of her book on quilter's math.

Adding this to the One Monthly Goal April linkup on Patty's Elm Street Quilts blog.  Hoping April isn't as interminably long as March was.

That should be a nice border. The one narrow orange is a bit brighter and that should add a bit of zing without overpowering the softer center. Ooh, that sounds like an Easter candy egg.
I made bunches of masks this week, too. And still more to do. It's a blessing to have projects.

Seems we are all making face masks. I love the fabrics you chose for your border. Hugs

Oh those are nice sherbet colors in your quilt for sure!!;)))
good for you making those masks--they do take time don't they--at least they did for me..4 days to make 12...I am a slow sewer and evidently a slow direction figuring "out-ter" too ;000
stay safe at home..Julierose

I’m glad to see you’re continuing to stay busy. Me too! No use letting all this uninterrupted time go to waste. Otherwise, months from now we’ll get through this and wonder what we did with all our free time. I, for one, would like to have several quilts as a result. Besides, seeing is a therapeutic distraction from the dire news. I haven’t made face masks, though I imagine that day is coming soon. For now it seems easier to just stay home, but one of these days, we’ll have to get groceries!

Good looking masks. As I have been sewing them the past couple of days I have determined that I don't buy enough fun fabrics for occasions such as this.
Pretty Sherbet quilt. That border print really sets it off!

That will be a lovely quilt, and that looks like a great border for it. I haven't made a mask yet; may try tomorrow. I probably need to make some for my son who works in a retail store, which IS open! ---"Love"

Your sherbet jumble looks good. Great looking masks. I've been practicing a couple of mask patterns too. All of this is so surreal.

Glad you are safe and well and sewing! During this time we can only pray a lot for anyone out.

I think I’m going to make a couple of face masks for our family. I’ve resisted making them because it seems as if so many already are. With the vacillation about whether we all should be wearing them, now I’m thinking we’ll probably start when we go out. Of course, there are none to be had anywhere.
