One Monthly Goal for March

It's March already, and time for setting some goals for the month!  Over the past couple months I pieced a couple smaller quilts for our quilt ministry.  We got them layered and pinned at our meeting a couple weeks ago, and my One Monthly Goal is to complete the machine quilting on these two quilts, and get them out the door.

This first one I'm calling Occasional Stars, made from donated scraps of homespuns given to the ministry group.  The top measures 57x68 inches.  It will be backed with a large homespun plaid.  I'm not fond of machine quilting homespuns because of their stretchiness, but will probably just give this one an overall meander of some sort.

The second quilt is called Little Bear's Day, measuring 39x49 inches.  It's a slightly smaller version made from the leftovers of a quilt I made back in 2012, now living with my three-year-old grandson.  Sorry for the out-of-focus photo.

Happy sewing!

Both quilts are so sweet. The homespun reminds me of the quilts from the 1990's that were my first quilting loves. So nice to have a quilt ministry going.

Lovely projects. I always really like the look of homespuns but they re hard to work with sometimes.

I love the stars! I don't do plaids usually, but this is so comforting. Perfect for your ministry.

Great goals. I’m trying to decide on a goal for March, but I first need to get somewhere I can post and upload pictures.

Your March goals will bring smiles to a couple people. Your ministry puts the scraps together in very pretty ways.

I have always loved homespun cloth and have several pieces I have collected over the years. The colors of your Occasional Stars are so nice. But, I can imagine Little Bear's Day is going to be someone's favorite quilt. Actually, I would really like that one for myself! I used to help my mom layer and block her quilts. She actually tacked it down through the carpet until we got it like she wanted it. She never liked carpet anyway! :~)

Your Occasional Stars quilt looks so comfortable and inviting. I love colors and fabrics in this quilt. Somehow, it reminds me of the Lincoln quilt that Lori of Humble Quilts made a year or so ago.

Two nice creations. I am especially drawn to the homespun quilt. One day I want to make something with a rustic look like that.

I especially like the star quilt. I am with Janet O. The homespuns make for a look I like very much. Homespuns are harder and harder to find for adding to stash.

These are both great quilts. I really like the combination of the checkerboard squares with the stars and other blocks. I wish you well with your March goal.

Our carpet is shared with a long-haired Aussie who has access to all our rooms, so very little in the way of quilts on the floor, only for a finish photo after thorough vacuuming, then immediate rescue (of the quilt), lol!
