It's been a really busy week around here, and I've loved every minute! First of all, we had an overnight visit from Barbara and her husband Mike, all the way from Oregon. We had a delightful time with them that was over all too soon, as they headed north and east with a coming weekend destination of the Maine coast, a place I'm eager to visit again.
And now we're in the midst of a five day visit from our youngest grandbaby, now nine months old, and his weary mom! Weary because this little guy has just found his mobility, is pulling himself up to a stand on anything that presents itself as a possibility. When he first arrived he carefully studied how the old Polish bentwood rocker moved back and forth at the slightest touch, then proceeded to pull himself to a standing position while it rocked! And he can crawl across the room on his belly faster than you can blink an eye! Suffice to say that any t.v. remote or anything resembling one is fair game as far as he's concerned!
So, what have I accomplished quilt-wise this week? Not much, actually, though I did manage to pull my version of Lori's Palmateer Point quilt-along together. This is Humble Quilt's annual fall quilt-along, which are always fun to participate in, especially getting to the third week and trying to figure out how Lori is going to arrange all the pieces we've been stitching into a coherent whole.
I'm not especially enamored with my choice of fabrics for the half-square triangles in this version, and am playing around with a few border ideas to try reigning in the white that seems to fly off the edges of the top right now. We shall see what transpires from that. I do love the overall look of this block and someday when I have a bit more time would like to experiment with setting additional quadrants into a barn-raising type of setting. This could be very interesting.
It's also pretty neat seeing the block placed on-point.
Thanks Lori, for another fun quilt-along! Check out her linky party here, to see all the other versions.

Energy, you need energy! Chasing a new crawler around is exhausting but what fun to see them grow and develop.
Those blocks for the new QAL look good so many ways....this is a new version to me!
I like your fabric choices. It turned out great.
Very pretty quilt top. Looking forward to seeing it quilted :)
Oh, you are having fun now and I am resting up from my fun! :)
We found a remote from an old TV not in use--made sure there were no batteries in it, and let Maggie have at it. She thought it was a phone, and would "talk on it" to her Dad--who was back at home.
Your PP quilt is very pretty. Your comments of all the possibilities for it makes me actually sorry mine is quilted and almost completely bound now (mine is tiny and didn't take much time).
I love your quilt. Lori always finds such wonderful antique quilts to recreate. Hugs
Ah...to have a little one around is such fun. My grandkids have grown up so fast - the youngest is 8 now. Or is he 9?
I'm glad you showed that block on point. I swapped some of those blocks in a bigger size (called Sunny Lanes at Quilter's Cache) in cw repros quite awhile ago. I didn't really like them all that much but now that I see the on point setting I might get some more made and get a quilt top finished.
I didn't quilt along with Lori and the rest of you this time. I had the fabrics laid out but not cut or sewn when I realized it would have a strong diagonal. But now that I'm seeing others post their finishes, I'm thinking of making four of the same block and arranging them, as you suggest, in a barn-raising setting. I like the soft colors of your squares and I think the pink works well. I like this laid on the diagonal, too.
Lovely little quilt.:)
Love the pink! A very sweet Palmateer Point quilt - so lovely.
Your quilt is sweet. It will be interesting how everyone finishes theirs. I do like it on point.
Nice for you to be getting to see the antics of an active nine month-old. Aren't you glad you don't have a nine month-old of your own?! It sounds so tiring now. :-) Love this quilt design! I've been making 4-1/2" (unfinished) 16-patch blocks as "leaders and enders" (I have 80 of them so far) and think that this might be a good layout for them. Thank you for sharing!
Your little quilt looks great! The barn-raising idea sounds really interesting!
This quilt is quite attractive, I am sure whatever you do with it, border or setting-wise will be simply wonderful. Enjoy your precocious grandbaby; mine have rocketed in age while I was trying so hard not to blink! 😉
I was bothered by that diagonal too--good idea to do a barn-raising layout. Your colors look great!
Like so much your palmeteen! The pink is very catching.
I had to laugh : ) if a nine month old couldn't interfere with daily life or quilting life, who could :) Such a delightful age :)
