Hello friends!
October's bright blue weather has left us and we're now experiencing the full-on gray of November. To brighten up my days I embarked on another triangle quilt, this time hoping to trim the overflowing bin of batiks - totally unsuccessful in that endeavor! Anyhow, here's what the completed top looks like.
Sorry about the rug "borders" showing. Too wet and muddy to take it outside for a better photo. It measures 72-1/2 inches square, 10 rows of 16 full triangles each plus the half triangles at the edges to square up everything.
This is the third or fourth triangle quilt I've made using the helpful hints shown in Marit's now-inactive blog Quilt-It. This link should take you directly to her posts describing her method and helpful hints for stitching these equilateral triangles:

So much fun, if a bit daunting sewing everything in diagonal rows! The greatest challenge for me was working with a design wall that is only 48" wide and needing to be able to lay out the entire 72 inch quilt before sewing very much together.
OK, so now that this top is sewn together and awaiting a backing, there are nearly enough leftover triangles to make a smaller 50x65" top. So I'll tackle that right after finishing the machine quilting on my historic panel quilt top. I keep telling myself this needs to be finished before the quin-bicentennial(?) celebrations next year, and yet I keep procrastinating - sigh....
So, that's about it for November happenings around here. Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving!

very nice...i can relate to trying to tame scraps. i too could use a larger design wall...
Congrats on getting this lovely top together. I love it. All those bias edges make me nervous to give it a try. But I love it.
Okay now, raise your hand if you have conquered your own Mount Scrapmore! No hands? Exactly what I thought. You are not alone with the mountain of scraps that keeps multiplying. Just enjoy them. Have fun. ;^)
I always admire your triangle quilts. So much movement and contrast. And, of course, you get to use the leftovers to make another quilt :-) Can't get any better than that. Thin layer of ice on the river this morning. First of the season but it won't last long. Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Batiks go together so wonderfully. Beautiful! And, yes, I've got a lot of batiks that are starting to mutter that it's time for a new project....
The Triangles quilt is beautiful. My eyes just flit around seeing patterns and bigger triangles form and dissolve.
I have no design wall at all, so anything would be useful. I find diagonal piecing difficult.
The sun is trying to peek out now, we often have beautiful weather in November as the ocean delays the seasons.

Oh, I think this is so beautiful. What a great pattern for using some good-sized scraps. I do love batiks.
What a project to tackle - using up batiks, and making so many equilateral triangles. Wow! Good for you! Personally, I'd just give away the batiks. Ha, ha. But your quilts turned out so pretty! Truly. Sometimes it's the simplest shape that makes the most effective quilt design.
